The Council’s Housing Allocation policy was last consulted on in 2019 following changes made following the Homeless Reduction Act 2017. At that time it was decided to hold a final review of the policy at a later date in the light of impending legislation.

This second stage consultation is on a further refinement that reflects new duties, alongside a private sector offer protocol.

The proposal ensures that the Council is able to meet its housing duty and make the most effective use of the limited affordable housing stock that is available for rent in the borough.
