Bella goes to school in Bexley and she is urging more residents to recycle their food because it’s easy to do, saves money and is good for the environment.
Bella felt so strongly about the importance of recycling food and reusing more of our food that she assisted us with a video to show how easy it is to recycle food waste in Bexley.
With the average household estimated to waste over £600 per year by throwing away food that could be reused she also felt it was important to remind everyone of some top tips to reduce their food waste.

Over 30% of the rubbish in our green household bins is food waste that could have been either recycled or reused. Food recycling is collected weekly and free food boxes are available for all those living in the Borough. These can be requested on the council website.
Bexley Green Points is a local scheme that rewards residents for recycling food waste, the more points you build up the more rewards you get. You can join the 18,000+ Bexley residents already using this rewards scheme and sign up on the Green Points website.
