BexleyCo has completed the purchase of the former library site, Hadlow Road, Sidcup.
The Council’s arm's length development company will now seek to develop the site for 32 quality new one, two and three-bedroom private apartments.
Cabinet Member for Growth, Cllr Cafer Munur said:
The sale of this site is another example of how we are looking to provide the right kind of growth for our borough. The previous library building was no longer fit for purpose and since vacating the site we have been able to provide a stunning new library and cinema in the heart of the town. BexleyCo have some great ideas for the site that will bring much needed homes to the area."
Jeremy Stibbe, BexleyCo’s Chairman said,
This is a great site that will help deliver much needed new homes for local people in the Sidcup area. This is another significant milestone towards delivering BexleyCo’s Business Plan and more quality homes as well as providing returns to our Shareholder, the Council."
The site will shortly be secured and it's hoped a build contractor will be appointed early in 2024.
BexleyCo is building quality new houses and apartments and giving priority to local people, enabling them to remain in the borough. These homes are offered for sale, shared ownership and affordable rents.
Returns generated by the sale of the new homes BexleyCo builds are directly reinvested back into services and facilities for Bexley’s residents.
