Cemetery service fees and charges
The cemetery service has two sets of fees depending on whether the deceased is classified as a resident or non-resident.
Resident fees apply to those who:
- at the time of death, lived at a residence within the borough
- moved away from the borough no more than two years prior to application and spent the majority of their adult life living within the borough
- live outside the borough but have purchased a 'grave in reserve' prior to 1 January 2010 whilst a resident within the borough and is the named Grave Owner
- a spouse, civil partner or child of a grave owner who has purchased a 'grave in reserve' and is residing within the borough
- resided in an out-of-borough nursing home arranged and funded by the London Borough of Bexley
Evidence may need to be provided to confirm residency status.
Non-resident fees apply to all other people wishing to be interred within the borough.
Child fees apply to all those under 18 years of age at the time of death.
It may be possible for the Cemeteries Team to apply to the Children’s Funeral Fund (England) to claim some of the fees back on behalf of the family to assist with funeral costs. The Cemeteries Team will advise on this process at the time of booking; however, each application is on a case-by-case basis, there is no guarantee, and the decision is outside the Council’s control.
