Bexley Housing Policies and Strategy
Housing Strategy 2020 to 2025
Our Housing Strategy (PDF) was adopted at Public Cabinet on 17 November 2020. The Strategy sets out how we hope to secure the homes that local people and the borough need, not just for new residents but for those in Bexley whose lives have changed. The strategy also sets out our approach to the challenge of providing the mix of housing that is needed. A Housing Strategy Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA) (PDF) was also undertaken.
London Borough of Bexley Strategic Housing Market Assessment (SHMA) 2021
A key piece of evidence supporting the Housing Strategy is the Council’s 2021 Strategic Housing Market Assessment (PDF).
Housing Allocations Policy 2021
Our Housing Allocations Policy (PDF) was adopted at Public Cabinet on 26 July 2021. The Council has no housing stock of its own and relies on nominations from housing providers to enable offers of accommodation to be advertised through the Council's Choice Based Lettings Scheme. The aim of the policy is to determine what households have the greatest priority for the limited number of properties that become available each year. In order to be able to bid for these properties, you will need to be registered on the Council’s housing register.
A Housing Allocations Policy Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA) (PDF) was also undertaken.
Housing Assistance Policy
Our Housing Assistance Policy (PDF) was adopted at Public Cabinet on 23 March 2023.
Grant funding administered under the Housing Assistance Policy is available for a range of work that will help a disabled person remain in their home.
You can find more information on how to apply at Disabled facilities grant.
