Boxing

Activity

Olympia Boxing is running two non-contact boxing fitness sessions for people living with Parkinson’s, Dementia and Alzheimer's. Virtual sessions can be enjoyed from a seated or standing position, so all abilities welcome. Just come along and have fun:

  1. For people living with Dementia and Alzheimer's and their carers - every Wednesday 1.30pm to 2.30pm, currently on Zoom for free
  2. For people living with Parkinson’s Disease and their carers - every Thursday 4pm to 5pm, currently on Zoom for free

Bexley Bike Hub (Wingz) run facilitated bike sessions for disabled children and young people and their siblings aged 6+. Use of the Hub’s equipment is included such as BMX's and helmets. Limited Edition Cycling

Unique is an all ability cycling project, for all riders, families and carers regardless of ability or need. Offering a variety of adapted bikes and equipment on site, including handcycles, tandems, trikes and wheelchair cycles, making sessions accessible for all. Coaches and volunteers provide cycling support and fun activities.

Sit to Keep Fit - come along to the Belvedere Befriending cafe run by Age UK Bexley and enjoy 30 minutes of gentle exercise. Designed to improve your strength and balance, all from the comfort of a chair. Sessions are run by Lesley from Crossroads Care South East London who has been supporting unpaid carers and older people since 1990.

Sessions take place on the second Tuesday of every month between 11:15am to 11:45am. The first session is free. After that, if you would like to attend regularly there is a membership fee of £10 per month, which entitles you to attend any of Age UK’s Cafes in the borough.

Parkinson’s Steps to Health - offers exercise on a 1-to-1 basis as well as a group session.

Please visit your GP to ask to be referred or contact Wendy for further information. 

If you are in receipt of disability benefit you are entitled to a Free Saver Card giving the user discounts to the Parkwood Leisure Centres in the borough (Crook Log, Sidcup and Erith Leisure Centre*). Carers accompanying a user with a disability are entitled to free entrance into the facilities. Additional costs will be charged to the carer if they wish to take part in an activity. *Erith Leisure Centre has accessible gym equipment for people with disabilities. These include a handcycle, a low recumbent bike, a rowing machine with chair and backrest, and an accessible stretching and free weights area.

Judo

Activity

Access Sport and United Judo are launching new inclusive judo sessions in Bexley for D/deaf, disabled, and neurodivergent children and young people aged 8-15 and their families.

The sessions focus on fun judo-orientated games and activities where each young person learns judo movements with contact and non-contact both possible. Sessions are adapted to each young person’s needs.

Wheelchair Rugby.
