Celebrating Bexley

A year of culture and heritage

This year offers us all the chance to get to know Bexley’s rich cultural and creative scene like never before. #CelebratingBexley is an exciting festival spanning 2025 - the year of Danson Park’s centenary, Crossness Pumping Station’s 160th anniversary, the borough’s own 60th birthday and the 500th anniversary of Lesnes Abbey’s closure.

The programme brings a vibrant mix of music, performing arts, exhibitions, crafts and more, with events spread across Bexley, showcasing the diverse arts, cultural and heritage organisations that make the borough special. From indoor exhibitions to outdoor performances, these events will shine a spotlight on the people and places that shape Bexley’s unique identity.

Lots to celebrate in Erith

The Council has been working with local people and partners to deliver some impressive improvements in Erith, making the most of its riverside location, highlighting what a great place it is to live, work and visit.

At Riverside Gardens works are really starting to take shape. The re-landscaping of the gardens, bringing residents and visitors closer to the River Thames with new seating, a playground and outdoor fitness zone, as well as a community gardening area will be complete in the Spring. The gardens are expected to reopen in the coming months.

Work is also on track to be completed at 68 Pier Road which is being transformed into a multi-use community space.

The new space will be known locally as 68 following a public vote. It will have a kitchen, a hireable events area and meeting rooms plus a Changing Places toilet facility. There will also be an indoor courtyard that local people can use to meet and relax that will also be used for outdoor community events.

With works to improve Walnut Tree Road for pedestrians and vehicles expected to be complete by this summer there will be plenty to celebrate in Erith in 2025.
