This year in Bexley, we hosted a Halloween trail alongside arts & crafts and an escape room as a thank you to those children who support their parents to make a difference by fostering a child. When deciding to foster, some applicants have to consider how fostering may impact their own children. We asked foster carer’s children what their views are on fostering.
My family have been fostering for 12 years, fostering has always been a big part of my family life. My friends and extend family have been really supportive of my family fostering and have embraced the children my family care for. I have enjoyed my experience so far, especially when I know that we have made a difference to a child's life." - Birth child aged 17.
Fostering means I have lots of brothers and sisters, I always have someone to play games with." - Birth child aged 7.
Fostering has defiantly impacted my life, I understand how lucky I am being surrounded by such a big and loving family. Not all children have that. I am proud of my Mum for being a foster parent, she has given children a safe place to call home." - Birth child aged 14.
I like the events that Bexley run. I enjoyed the circus, my favourite part was at the end where we all got to clap along to the music. It is also nice to meet other children who foster." - Birth child aged 8.
